what did the two carabao statues stand for or commemorate?

i mean the two carabao satues on both ends of the lagoon in bacolod city, philippines’ capitol park

i’m adressing this question to those who has any idea or knowledge about the two carabaos in Bacolod City Philippines’ Capitol Park & Lagoon – WHY WERE THEY BUILT? there has to be a cause why they stand there. i think it’s related to farming and agriculture… and the history of Bacolod City since it’s one of the its landmarks

Although no law decrees the carabao to be a national symbol, most Filipinos consider it to be the national animal. The carabao is one of the most important animals in the country, especially in agriculture. Carabao skin was once used extensively in the Philippines to create a variety of products ,including the armor of pre-colonial Filipino warriors. I can’t find anywhere that it says why they were bult, but I am assuming reason above is why.
