Beijing Ancient Architecture Museum, From Era to Era

The Beijing Ancient Architecture Museum is located at Xiannongtan on Dongjing Road, Xuanwau District, Beijing, China. The museum itself is declared a historical site since it is located within the Xiannong Temple. The museum depicts the development of China from the primitive era to the Qing Dynasty that went from 1644 AD to 1911 AD. The Xiannongtan Temple was constructed in 1420 AD, in the 18th year of the sovereignty of Emperor Yongle, during the Ming Dynasty that lasted from 1368 AD to 1644 AD. It was constructed at a time when the then Emperor of China had decided to relocate the capital of his empire from Nanjing to Beijing. Additional buildings were added to the temple in 1520, during the 1st year sovereignty of Emperor Jiajing of the Ming Dynasty. The temple was refurbished in 1754 AD under the sovereignty of the then Emperor of China, Emperor Qianlong of the Qing dynasty. It was here at the Xiannongtan Temple where the Emperors of China from the Qing Dynasty as well as the Ming Dynasty made scarifies unto the Chinese god of agriculture. The museum is only about three kilometers away from the Tiananmen Square.

The museum consists of two parts, namely the ancient architectures section and the ancient architecture art section. The former comprises of the old architecture compound of Xiannongtan, called also as the Mountains and Rivers Shrine. The latter consists of displays depicting the progress of China in the Yu and Taisui Hall.

While traveling it is best to stay at a Beijing hotel. A stay at a luxury hotel in Beijing is highly recommended.
