dry stone walling in canada?
i am a dry stone waller in britain, and i am thinking of relocating to canada to carry on my career.
however, i dont really have any information about that nature of work in canada, and i dont really know where to start enquiring.
i tried emailing someone from the DSWAC website, but they didnt email back, probably because i asked them about salary or something. but how else am i gonna find stuff like that out?
anyway here are my main concerns:
is the work seasonal, or can it be done all year round?
is dry stone walling in abundance in canada, or is it quite hard to find work?
in what areas of canada is dry stone walling most common?
is it used as stock-proofing in agriculture, or is the work mainly around property?
and, the most difficult question, what sort of money do dry stone wallers get working in canada?
i know there are difficult questions in there, but just answer whatever you can!

I live in the United States, in southern new England and even here you would not be able to work year-round. So almost anywhere in Canada would be way to cold for outdoor work in winter, not to mention the snow.
I cannot say how common dry stone walls are in Canada. But they are part of the traditional landscape in New England and the history is fascinating.
To my knowledge, dry stone wallers are in great demand and they command a very good rate – in the US.
One of the most famous of them is Dan Snow, who has written a few books. Google him.
